Fostering in Westminster

Fostering in Westminster

Fp.c are currently looking to increase the number of foster carers we have for the Westminster area. If you are interested in becoming a foster carer in Westminster and have questions about what this involves please read on. In addition to the information on this fostering in Westminster page, we also run regular informal questions and answers events where you can find out about other carers’ experiences in the Westminster area.

We are particularly interested in recruiting locally based foster carers to support children and young people based in the Westminster area. If you are considering Fostering in Westminster here are some of the questions you may be considering.

Who can I foster in Westminster?

There are a variety of children, younger and older who require fostering in Westminster. One thing you can be prepared for as a foster carer in Westminster is to be busy. As an accredited Tier 1 provider of foster placements, we have a regular demand for placements and are trusted with matching children for short, medium, and longer term placements.

  • Sibling groups of younger children
  • Children age 9+ who need short term placements
  • Children age 9+ who need long term/ permanent placements
  • Teenagers who need to remain with foster carers until they reach independence
  • Children who have mild and moderate level learning difficulties
  • Children who have more complex disabilities
  • Parent and Child Placements (Usually mother and child- occasionally a new father and child)
  • Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking children and young people

How long might I be fostering for in Westminster?

Many of our foster carers in Westminster look after children for temporary periods until they can either return to their parents or other family members. Short term fostering may be from a few weeks, whereas longer term fostering can be until the children are grown up.

Why choose to work with fp.c in Westminster

We are proud of the relationships we have with our foster children and foster carers. We believe that our commitment to these relationships, our determination to continuing to provide the best matching process, and the support we offer to our foster carers make fp.c the ideal partner for foster carers in Westminster.

We are driven by the goal of ensuring that there are sufficient Westminster based foster carers to provide local placements for children in Westminster allowing children to continue their education at their current schools and to retain relationships with friends and family without upheaval. For the longer term this can help facilitate arrangements for a child to return to their family where this is the right plan for the child.
