What happens if we offer a child a home but then we don't get along?

A.

Our process of careful  matching of children with carers and our emphasis on providing  high level support means that most of our foster placements are successful and stable and our foster carers and children consistently report being generally happy with how things are working out.

On the relatively rare occasions when things do not work our or a child does not settle, our approach and philosophy is to manage the move in the best possible way and to capture and evaluate  what can be learnt from the experience about the child's needs and what sort of placement will suit them best going forwards, so that the experience is not repeated.

In the process, we will also seek to learn what sort of child will be most suited to the foster carers going forwards.

Put another way, we work very hard to make sure things go well. When they don't,  we aim to "stay out of blame" and to reflect on what can be learnt to the benefit of all parties, the child, our carers and for  ourselves and to take good care of our foster carers and the children.
